About the FACT Board and committees

FACT members work together primarily through volunteer committees overseen by the Board of Directors. Minutes of the meetings are posted in a password-protected area of this site intended for Board and committee members only.

FACT Board of Directors

The 7-position Board of Directors is the main governing body of FACT. The Directors serve two-year terms, and all active members of FACT are eligible to stand for election when vacancies occur. Directors can also be appointed by the Board when vacancies arise.

Active members

Active members of more than one year standing, who have contributed to FACT (for example, by volunteering on the board and committees or by attending events) are considered voting members. These members can vote at any general meetings. A voting list is prepared prior to the AGM, usually held in the spring.

Committees

All committees are chaired by a member of the Board of Directors, and co-chaired by another member. The co-chair may be invited to Board meetings or may act as the chair's delegate at Board meetings. The Chair is responsible to ensure that the committee's plans are implemented.

Committee members attend regular meetings to plan activities and projects in the area for which the committee is responsible. Committee volunteers assist with certain assigned tasks and may (or may not) attend meetings.

Programme committee

This committee plans and organises events. Each event is assigned to a committee member, who acts as the main organiser. This member co-ordinates all the activities related to the event, liaises with the Board and the promotion committee, ensures that the Web Editor is informed of the details well in advance of the event. After the event, the event organiser ensures that the event is properly evaluated, documented and filed, and that videos and pictures are well-documented and filed.

Promotion committee

This committee promotes FACT and its events in collaboration with other committees. Its prime responsibilites are media relations and the creation and distribution of promotional materials. It also organises displays for events, conferences and meetings and recruits new FACT members.

Fundraising committee

This committee plans and implements fundraising activites on FACT's behalf, facilitating in large part FACT's continued success in all areas.

Website committe

This committee oversees the content of the website, ensuring that accurate and up-to-date information appears at all times. Committee members prepare items for the various sections of the websites (blog, CAM news, FACT news, educational opportunities, etc.) and co-ordinate the production of the e-Newsletter. They also research, evaluate and edit the content of the Community section of the website (also known as the information database) and moderate the discussion forum.

e-Newsletter committee

This committee is temporarily on hiatus pending the completion of our website redevelopment. Projected activities for this committee include acquiring sponsorship (in accordance with our sponsorship guidelines), soliciting contributions to the newsletter and editing.
